How much cutlery should I plan for my event?

For an event with starter + main course + dessert + coffee, plan on average 9 to 12 pieces of cutlery per guest (table knife, table fork, starter knife, starter fork, dessert spoon, dessert fork, teaspoon). Add 10 to 15% extra to allow for handling, drops and changes during service. For a walking dinner, allow 3 to 5 pieces per guest depending on the format. The choice depends on the level of finish and the visual identity of your event:
